Kapamilya stars traded bright lights for bayanihan as “ASAP Presents: Tulong-Tulong, Kapamilya” returned with a special benefit episode on November 16 — raising over ₱1 million for families hit by Typhoon Tino and looming Typhoon Uwan. The show opened on a somber note, with Martin Nievera reminding viewers that even as communities mourn and rebuild, “we rise together.” His performance of “Only Selfless Love” set the emotional pace, followed by powerhouse collaborations from Erik Santos, KZ Tandingan, Darren Espanto, Angeline Quinto, Jona, and Gary Valenciano, all wearing “Love, Joy, Hope” shirts in solidarity.
The afternoon blended star power with sincere calls for action. Young Kapamilyas like Kyle Echarri, Alexa Ilacad, and Darren Espanto shared messages of courage in their local dialects, urging viewers to “padayon.” Girl group BINI delivered a stirring “Na Na Nandito Lang” before announcing that proceeds from their upcoming BINIfied! concert on Nov. 29 would be donated to ABS-CBN Foundation. Members Colet, Gwen, and Stacey also addressed their hometowns — Cebu, Bicol, and Nueva Vizcaya — promising, “Kasama n’yo kami sa pagbangon.”
The concert honored real-life heroes too — including 15-year-old Jayboy Magdadaro, who saved more than 50 people during the Cebu floods; a basketball player known as JR, who rescued babies and elderly neighbors; and Joshua Sandal, who pulled ten people to safety with an electric wire. Performances from KZ, Kyla, Angeline, and the Roja cast amplified this theme of resilience, with Kyle and Kai Montinola performing “Rise Up” before announcing their team’s donation to typhoon-affected families.
ASAP’s vocal champions kept the momentum high with renditions of “DAM,” “Matibay,” “Umagang Kay Ganda,” “If We Hold On Together,” “Tara Tena” and “Paraiso,” framing the night as a loud, collective promise of hope. A heartfelt duet of “Give the World a Chance” by Martin and Jona included Jona’s announcement that she would donate proceeds from her recent concert. Gary Valenciano then offered a prayer-like performance of “He Won’t Let Go,” sealing the show’s message of faith through storms.
The finale — “The Prayer” by JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano — closed out a night grounded in compassion. As stars gathered to announce the over ₱1 million raised, the episode faded into ABS-CBN’s Christmas ID: a reminder that even in darkness, love, joy, and hope remain the network’s signature chorus.
