The city government, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), is actively participating in the nationwide observance of Social Welfare Week from November 25 to December 1, as declared under Proclamation No. 1207, series of 1973.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Ma. Socorro Rojas emphasized the importance of the celebration, stating that it serves as a platform to honor the dedication and contributions of individuals and organizations working to uplift the lives of Filipinos, particularly the vulnerable and marginalized.
The weeklong event recognizes the vital roles played by social workers, community development practitioners, paraprofessionals, and volunteers engaged in socio-economic development efforts. It also highlights the challenges faced by disadvantaged communities and the need for policies and programs that promote social justice and well-being.
Social Welfare Week serves as an opportunity for social workers and allied professionals to collaborate, share best practices, and strategize on solutions to pressing social issues. The celebration also seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of social work in building a more inclusive and equitable society.
