The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in collaboration with the Department of Energy (DOE), is set to enhance medical facilities in Lanao del Sur as part of the ongoing Development for Renewable Energy Applications Mainstreaming and Market Sustainability (DREAMS) Project.

In a statement released on Thursday, the provincial government of Lanao del Sur announced that construction of the upgraded medical facilities will commence in the first quarter of 2025. This initiative is part of broader efforts to integrate renewable energy solutions into essential infrastructure.

Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. has been actively partnering with UNDP Philippines on various development initiatives, including renewable energy, women’s empowerment, peace and security, and the rehabilitation of Marawi City. These projects aim to foster economic recovery and institutional growth in the province.

Members of the DREAMS Core Group from the provincial government convened on Thursday at the Provincial Engineer’s Office in Lanao del Sur to discuss project implementation details.

The DREAMS Project, which is being implemented by the DOE’s Renewable Energy Management Bureau in partnership with the Global Environment Facility and UNDP, is a five-year initiative focused on promoting and increasing renewable energy investments at the local level. The program supports local government units and other stakeholders in integrating sustainable energy solutions into their operations.
