Tuguegarao City flooding worsens

By Michelle Ducut

Heavy rains brought by recent weather disturbances have caused significant flooding in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The water level at the Buntun Bridge has risen above the critical level, leading to widespread road closures and suspension of government work.

As of 9 AM on Tuesday, the water level at the Buntun Bridge reached 11.6 meters, exceeding the 11-meter critical level. Several roads in the city, including the Capatan overflow bridge, Gomez Extension, Delpol Street, Macapagal Crossing, and others, have become impassable.

To ensure the safety of residents and facilitate emergency response efforts, the city government has suspended work in government offices effective 11 AM. Additionally, classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12, including Alternative Learning System, have been canceled.

Mayor Maila Ting Que has urged residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel to allow authorities to focus on relief and rescue operations in affected areas.
