The municipal government of Tayug has issued a Notice of Violation to a gasoline station in Barangay Amistad after authorities found that the establishment allegedly sold diesel and other petroleum products beyond the allowable price range set by the Department of Energy (DOE).
In a formal letter dated March 8, 2026, Tayug Mayor Tyrone Agabas informed the management of GT Oil Gasoline Station that monitoring conducted by the municipal government, in coordination with the Philippine National Police, showed the station had allegedly exceeded the approved pump price range for diesel fuel.
The monitoring covered the period from March 6 to March 9, 2026, during which officials compared the station’s posted prices with the allowable range issued by the Department of Energy.
According to the mayor’s office, acts such as hoarding, illegal trading, overpricing, and misuse of petroleum products violate Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, which imposes penalties that may include fines and imprisonment.
A comparative schedule showing the station’s fuel prices alongside the DOE’s prescribed price range was attached to the notice for the establishment’s reference.
Agabas directed the gasoline station to immediately adjust its pump prices to comply with the allowable range set by the DOE. Failure to do so, the notice said, could prompt the municipal government to take regulatory action, including the possible suspension or revocation of the station’s business permit.
The mayor’s office emphasized that the measure is aimed at protecting the public from unfair fuel pricing practices and ensuring compliance with national energy regulations.
The management of the gasoline station has yet to issue a public response as of this writing.
