Taguig LGU hosts World Diabetes Day activity

To help residents manage and prevent diabetes while promoting overall wellness, the City of Taguig, through its City Health Office, hosted a special World Diabetes Day event on November 14 at Lakeshore Hall.

In line with this year’s theme, “Diabetes and Well-being,” the event offered free health services and educational sessions, empowering participants with valuable tools and resources to foster a healthier, more informed community.

More than 430 individuals living with diabetes or hypertension from various barangays attended, taking part in educational sessions focused on managing diabetes and other lifestyle-related conditions, with a particular focus on mental health strategies for dealing with chronic illnesses.

The City Health Office provided a wide range of free medical services, including ECG tests, Integrated Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Risk Assessments, Random Blood Sugar and Cholesterol Screenings, Nutrition Counseling, and screenings for cervical and breast cancer. Additional services such as chest X-rays, tuberculosis screenings, and acupressure massages were also offered. To further promote preventive healthcare, pneumonia vaccines were provided to high-risk individuals.

Participants also received loot bags filled with practical health items like soap, electric massagers, stress balls, and pill organizers, helping to support their well-being even after the event.
