Taguig launches National Skin Disease Detection and Prevention Week

The Taguig City government, with its City Health Office and the Department of Dermatology at the Rizal Medical Center, launched the National Skin Disease Detection and Prevention Week: Skin Week 2024 on November 20.

The event aimed to raise awareness about skin health, with a focus on early detection and proper skin care. Held at the Lakeshore Hall, the program served around 200 participants who received free skin consultations from healthcare professionals at Rizal Medical Center. Prescribed medications were also provided at no cost, ensuring accessible care for all.

In her message, Mayor Lani Cayetano emphasized the importance of skin health awareness: “People still lack knowledge about skin conditions. That’s why this program is very important to the City government. What I want is for us to focus on this not just this month, but throughout the entire year.”

She also encouraged participants to spread the word about skin health: “Let’s not be satisfied that we alone have gained knowledge and benefited. We will be more effective if, through you—who personally attended the sessions and received actual medical services—you use your platforms to share this awareness.”

The event also included lectures on essential skin care practices such as sun protection and moisturizing, along with discussions on common skin diseases, including infections and bites, and how to treat them.
