Taguig hosts holiday event for solo parents

Approximately 300 female solo parents participated in the “Pamaskong Handog para sa Kababaihang Solo Parent” event on December 20 at Lakeshore Hall. Organized by the City of Taguig in collaboration with the Taguig Cooperative Development Office (TCDO) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the event aimed to empower solo parents during the holiday season.

The program, themed “Kaalaman, Kasiyahan, at Pagpapahalaga sa mga Solong Ina ng ating Lungsod,” focused on enhancing financial literacy and celebrating the resilience of solo mothers. Participants attended seminars covering topics such as effective budgeting, setting SMART financial goals, and savings strategies.

TCDO head Bing Juarez emphasized the importance of generosity, encouraging attendees to share their blessings with fellow solo parents. Mayor Lani Cayetano assured participants of the city’s continued support, acknowledging the significant responsibilities borne by solo parents and highlighting ongoing efforts to develop programs aimed at improving their lives. “As solo parents, we understand the heavy responsibilities you bear for your families. Rest assured, your sector will be included in our efforts to develop programs that will help improve your lives,” Cayetano said.

The event also featured games and raffles, with prizes including electric fans, rice cookers, washing machines, and blankets. Each attendee received a token of appreciation in the form of 5 kilograms of rice, contributing to the festive spirit and support for solo parents in Taguig.
