Taguig City’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (TCDRRMO) turned over five fire trucks and firefighting equipment to barangays on December 16 to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
The recipients—Barangays South Signal, South Daang Hari, Central Bicutan, San Miguel, and New Lower Bicutan—received the vehicles along with tools such as fire suits, claw bars, sledgehammers, hoses, nozzles, axes, ladders, ceiling hooks, and hydrant keys. The turnover and blessing ceremony took place at the Taguig Community Center in Barangay Bagumbayan.
Mayor Lani Cayetano, who led the event, highlighted the importance of safety during the holiday season. “It is our duty to protect the general welfare of our constituents, which is why we must activate the peace and order cluster to ensure our people can celebrate Christmas and the New Year peacefully and safely,” she said.
Cayetano also urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid using faulty or substandard electrical decorations to prevent accidents.
Barangay South Signal Chairman Jesus Laurel thanked the city government for its continued support. “This assistance is a great help to our barangays, especially in ensuring a quicker response to fires and other emergencies,” he said.
