Sta. Barbara honors para cyclist after Asian Para Games bronze finish

STA, BARBARA—The local government of Sta. Barbara honored para cyclist Grygo Angelito Bolinas with a Plaque of Recognition following his bronze medal finish in the Men’s 300-meter Individual Pursuit (C1–C3) event at the 30th Asian Para Games held in Bangkok, Thailand.

A native of STA. Barbara, Bolinas secured the medal while competing in the paracycling category, marking another international podium finish in his athletic career.

During the recognition ceremony, municipal officials cited Bolinas’ participation and performance in the regional competition, noting his role as a representative of the town and the province in international sports events.

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Wilma S. Coquia said Bolinas has been under the assistance of her office for several years, adding that he has received continued support as a person with disability and as an athlete. She noted that his qualification and participation in international competitions are considered milestones in his sports career.

The municipal government said assistance for Bolinas’ upcoming competitions, including a planned event in Japan, remains under consideration as part of its local sports support initiatives.

Bolinas, in a brief message, thanked those who supported his participation and said he intends to continue training for future competitions.

The recognition was signed by officials from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, the Persons with Disability Affairs Office, and the municipal council, along with Mayor Carlito S. Zaplan.
