Son of retired general arrested in Zamboanga drug bust

Authorities arrested the son of a retired police general and seized PHP 29.9 million worth of illegal drugs during an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City on Monday.

The suspect, identified as Ashraf Kayzar Ikbala, 40, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Divisoria. Police recovered over four kilograms of suspected shabu during the operation.

Ikbala, a resident of Aurora Village, Barangay Tumaga, has a history of drug-related offenses. He was previously arrested in 2019 for drug possession and was also linked to two other drug-related cases in 2018.

In a separate operation on Sunday, two individuals were arrested at a motel in Barangay Canelar with approximately 100 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 680, 000.

Both suspects are currently detained and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
