A senior citizen suspected of suffering from dementia was rescued by personnel from the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) after being found wandering along the South Road Properties (SRP) viaduct on November 7, 2024. The elderly man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was seen by CCTO staff at around 6:30 AM walking along the busy thoroughfare.

CCTO staff halted traffic and guided the man to safety, with assistance from local police officers.

Authorities are investigating the man’s condition, with initial assessments suggesting he may be suffering from dementia or another cognitive disorder. Wandering is a common behavior among individuals with dementia, which can pose safety risks.

The SRP viaduct, a multi-lane elevated road, is a dangerous location for pedestrians due to heavy traffic. Officials are working to reunite the man with his family.
