By Sam Ramos

A senior citizen was declared dead on arrival after being hit by a mini tanker truck while crossing Purok 5, Barangay Bocboc, Don Carlos, on Monday afternoon.

The victim whose family requested anonymity, estimated to be 74 years old and a farmer from Kadingilan, was struck by the truck driven by a 30-year-old man, who was later found to be unlicensed.

According to the initial investigation by the Don Carlos PNP, the driver failed to notice the victim crossing due to insufficient lighting in the area. Authorities also noted that the truck may have been speeding, which could have contributed to the accident.

The victim, who suffered severe head injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital but did not survive.

Meanwhile, the driver of the mini tanker truck is now in custody at the Don Carlos Municipal Police Station as investigations continue.
