The Senate has adopted a resolution led by Alan Peter Cayetano ensuring Filipinos facing foreign or international arrest are given time to seek relief from Philippine courts.
Senate Resolution No. 307 was approved on March 17, 2026 after amendments introduced by Tito Sotto. The measure also replaced the term “extraordinary rendition” with “extrajudicial rendition” to better reflect due process protections.
Cayetano said the resolution aims to uphold constitutional rights, stressing that Filipinos should be able to seek court intervention before being removed from the country.
The measure passed with three dissenting votes from Risa Hontiveros, Kiko Pangilinan, and Bam Aquino.
