SDSPPO hosts two-day ‘LTOPF Caravan’ in Tandag City

By William Agda

The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO), under the leadership of Provincial Director PCOL Harry B. Domingo, hosted a two-day One-Stop-Shop event dedicated to facilitating the renewal of Licenses to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and firearm registration. The event took place on November 28-29, 2024, at the SDSPPO Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp Hon. Vicente L. Pimentel Sr., in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

The initiative aimed to “streamline the firearms renewal process, promote responsible gun ownership, and curb the circulation of loose firearms in the province.” The Regional Civil Security Unit 13 (RCSU13), which oversees firearms regulations, collaborated with SDSPPO to encourage firearm holders with expired licenses to renew their registrations and ensure compliance with national safety standards.

The event featured a “hassle-free process” that included on-site drug testing, neuro-psychiatric examinations, a gun safety seminar, and the issuance of National Police Clearances. These services were made possible through the joint efforts of SDSPPO, RCSU13, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMDU13), Regional Firearms and Explosives Office (RFSU13), Regional Finance Unit 13 (RFU13), and the Tandag City Police Station.
