MANILA – Scattered rains are expected across the country on Sunday either due to “habagat” (southwest monsoon) or localized thunderstorms.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Mimaropa region, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains may occur.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA also said that at 3 a.m., a tropical cyclone (Typhoon Shanshan) was monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) located 1,980 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon.
The weather bureau said it is not yet seen to enter PAR and has no direct impact on the country’s weather conditions.
