The Student Council Alliance of the Philippines (SCAP) hosted a successful Congress dinner on November 22, 2024, at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City, marking a pivotal gathering for student leaders from across the country. The dinner served as a platform to celebrate student leadership and promote collaboration among representatives of schools and universities nationwide.

The event was part of the 11th SCAP Congress, an annual initiative aimed at uniting student leaders to address pressing issues in education, student welfare, and advocacy. Ken Paolo Gilo, National Chairperson of SCAP, delivered an inspiring keynote speech emphasizing the transformative role of student councils in their respective communities. He underscored the importance of unity, collaboration, and proactive leadership in tackling challenges such as academic accessibility, mental health, and social equity.

The Congress dinner also facilitated meaningful networking opportunities, allowing participants to forge stronger relationships and exchange innovative strategies for enhancing student governance. Discussions during the evening highlighted best practices in student council operations, the role of youth in national development, and the significance of collective action in advancing student rights.

SCAP’s mission to empower the youth was evident throughout the program. As an umbrella organization representing student councils and government bodies from various educational institutions, SCAP plays a vital role in fostering leadership development and advocating for policies that benefit Filipino students.

Bacolod City, known for its vibrant culture and strong support for education, provided a fitting backdrop for the event. The city’s academic institutions and active student organizations have long been instrumental in nurturing young leaders.
