San Fabian temporarily halts large community events to conserve energy

by Ahikam Pasion

The local government of San Fabian has ordered a temporary suspension of large community gatherings, including barangay fiestas, founding anniversaries, and basketball tournaments, as part of energy conservation measures.

The directive, issued through a memorandum from Mayor Marlyn E. Agbayani’s office, cites Memorandum Circular No. 114 from the Office of the President as the basis for the move.

Officials said the measure is intended to ensure more efficient use of electricity and other energy resources amid rising fuel costs linked to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

Mayor Agbayani urged all barangay chairmen to comply with the directive to prevent unnecessary energy consumption and to prioritize resources for essential community projects.

The order is effective immediately and is set to remain in place until the end of the year, unless otherwise suspended or revoked.

The local government clarified that essential programs and public services will continue despite the suspension of large-scale events.
