Samar Provincial Hospital (SPH) has received a three-star Green and Safe Facility Award from the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office VIII, recognizing its commitment to environmentally sustainable healthcare. The award was presented on October 24, 2024, at the Hospital Summit held at Summit Hotel.

This DOH program, launched in 2021, encourages hospitals to adopt eco-friendly practices. SPH met standards in energy and water efficiency, waste management, and environmental resilience, highlighting its role in reducing the healthcare sector’s environmental impact.

This recognition reflects SPH’s dedication to sustainable healthcare, setting a benchmark for other facilities in the region. The award aligns with the government’s broader efforts to address climate change and promote public health, reinforcing that environmental responsibility is increasingly critical in healthcare.
