A children’s book set produced under the Lunsod Lunsad Project will be launched as part of the 2024 Sinadya Festival on December 9, 2024.

The book set, created in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), will be introduced to the public in a ceremony during the festival. The city government plans to distribute copies of the books as Christmas gifts to attendees.

Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas expressed his excitement about the launch, emphasizing the city’s vibrant arts scene. “We have over 1, 000 artists who need a platform to develop their talents,” Dadivas said in an interview. The Lunsod Lunsad Project is part of a nationwide effort to support the creative industry, a key component of the Creative Philippines Act.

The children’s books focus on Capiz myths, environmental conservation, and local folklore, with illustrations tailored for young readers. Local writers and illustrators were involved in the project, having undergone specialized training and workshops to produce the books.

DTI-Capiz Director Ken Quennie Cuñada highlighted the importance of the initiative in showcasing the culture and heritage of Roxas City while also providing opportunities for local talent.

The 2024 Sinadya Festival, which honors the Immaculate Conception, will run from December 2 to 9, featuring a variety of cultural, civic, and sports activities, including a cultural presentation on December 4.
