Former President Rodrigo Duterte said he is ready to face the House of Representatives’ joint committee hearing on the alleged extra-judicial killing committed by his administration.

“House Quad-Comm, I am ready. See you on November 13,” Duterte said.

Former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo also said in a Facebook live on Monday evening that Duterte changed his mind after hearing the remarks of some congressmen saying that he might be scared of facing the Quadcomm.

While the former president is ready to face the Quadcomm on Wednesday, the House has decided to move the hearing date.

In his letter to the former president, Rep. Robert Ace S. Barbers, lead chairperson of the Quadcomm said the hearing date is moved to November 21, 2024.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused on your schedule, but rest assured that we will keep you informed of any further developments. Thank you for your understanding,” the letter stated.

Duterte has previously said through his lawyer, Martin Delgra III, that he will not attend the Quadcomm hearing to “save the government time and taxpayer’s money” since he already attended the Senate hearing probing the same allegations.

He also questioned the integrity and probity of certain congressmen which he did not identify.

Delgra also said that Duterte already “extensively discussed and shared his knowledge as to the alleged EJKs” during the Senate hearing.
