Former President Rodrigo Duterte is reportedly saddened and angered by what he considers the government’s allocation of public resources toward the arrest of his allies and supporters instead of addressing pressing concerns affecting Filipinos, according to his daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte.
In an interview, Kitty said her father believes government funds should be directed toward urgent national needs, including preparations for El Niño, flood control projects, and other programs that directly benefit the public.
She said the former president was particularly concerned about the use of taxpayers’ money for efforts to pursue individuals associated with him while other concerns require government attention.
Her remarks come amid the government’s pursuit of several Duterte allies, including Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, for whom authorities have announced a ₱50-million reward in connection with an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.###
