Red Tide warning lifted in Negros Oriental bays

By Xander Ledesma

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has lifted the red tide warning for Bais Bay, Siit Bay, and Tambobo Bay in Negros Oriental.

Recent laboratory tests confirmed the absence of harmful algal blooms (HABs) in these areas, making shellfish and small shrimp safe for consumption.

The red tide warning was initially issued on October 25 due to elevated levels of toxins in the water. However, subsequent monitoring revealed a significant decrease in toxin levels, prompting the lifting of the warning.

BFAR will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as necessary.
