A high-value drug suspect was apprehended in Quezon province after law enforcement seized illegal drugs valued at over PHP1.67 million during a raid in Barangay Mangilag Sur, Candelaria, Quezon, on Wednesday night.
Col. Ruben Lacuesta, provincial director of the Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO), confirmed Thursday that Candelaria Municipal Police Station officers executed a court-approved search warrant against a 42-year-old suspect known as “Rowell.” The operation resulted in the confiscation of 82.1 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP 1.67 million and 1.2 grams of dried marijuana leaves valued at PHP240.
The suspect faces charges under Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. “We are intensifying anti-drug operations across the province to safeguard our communities from the dangers of illegal drugs,” Lacuesta said, emphasizing the commitment to holding lawbreakers accountable and preserving public safety.
In a related operation on Thursday, the Sto. Tomas Component City Police Station (CCPS) apprehended the No. 4 regional most-wanted individual in Barangay Sta. Clara, Batangas City. The suspect, alias “Pepito,” 32, faces multiple charges, including 12 counts of qualified rape of a minor and three additional counts of qualified rape. The charges, issued by presiding Judge Alvin Bugayong Tanguanco of the Family Court, Regional Trial Court Branch 8 in Calamba City, carry no bail recommendation.
Regional Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas of Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) stated that “Pepito” is also charged with additional offenses, including sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness, and is currently in custody for further legal proceedings.
