Quezon City provides aid to entrepreneurs through SIGAP, SIGA programs

On January 7, 2025, the Quezon City government, led by Mayor Joy Belmonte, distributed financial assistance to local entrepreneurs through the Sikap at Galing Pangkabuhayan (SIGAP) and Small Income Generating Assistance (SIGA) programs.

The SIGAP program provided capital support to three groups of beneficiaries: scavengers from Barangay Payatas, welders from Barangay Libis, and women from Barangay Pasong Tamo. The assistance aimed to help these groups sustain and grow their small businesses.

100 residents from the city’s District 6 received ₱5,000 each in capital under the SIGA program. This initiative, conducted in partnership with the office of Councilor Vito Sotto Generoso, targeted small business owners, including persons with disabilities, solo parents, indigent residents, and persons deprived of liberty. Beneficiaries also participated in livelihood training before receiving their assistance.

The programs were implemented by the Quezon City Social Services Development Department (SSDD). The department oversees the provision of financial aid, as well as training and technical assistance, to support the beneficiaries in sustaining their businesses and achieving self-reliance. Regular monitoring is conducted to ensure proper use of the provided resources.

These programs are part of the local government’s ongoing efforts to assist small-scale entrepreneurs and improve local economic conditions.
