Quezon City declares State of Calamity after severe weather

Quezon City declared a state of calamity on October 25 due to widespread damage caused by recent severe weather, according to Mayor Joy Belmonte. This declaration allows the city government to access emergency funds to provide swift relief and support to residents in affected areas.

The Quezon City Council, led by Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, assessed the situation during a special session. Many parts of the city experienced severe flooding and damage to infrastructure, leaving thousands of families displaced or affected.

Mayor Belmonte called on residents to stay vigilant and cooperate with the ongoing relief efforts. The city is currently mobilizing resources to offer immediate aid, including providing food, shelter, and other necessities to those in need.

City officials are also coordinating closely with national and local agencies to ensure a comprehensive response to the crisis and prepare for recovery operations in the coming days.
