The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) recently completed a series of crime prevention lectures that engaged over 6,000 residents through 70 community-focused activities organized by the District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB) and the Community Affairs and Development Division (DCADD). The lectures covered crucial topics such as anti-terrorism awareness, the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) program for drug awareness, and other preventive measures against crime, aiming to build safer, more informed communities across Quezon City.
This initiative highlights the QCPD’s proactive approach to crime prevention through community education and engagement. The sessions included vital information on bomb awareness, anti-bullying, gender sensitivity, and laws like the Safe Spaces Act, which addresses sexual harassment in public spaces. Additionally, the initiative addressed social issues such as violence against women and human rights, providing resources to empower citizens to take preventive action.
Beyond the lectures, the program also included tree planting, clean-up drives, livelihood programs, and distribution of informational materials, food packs, and hot meals. By including livelihood initiatives, the QCPD connects public safety with broader community well-being, addressing root causes of crime such as poverty and lack of opportunity.
The initiative reflects the QCPD’s commitment to preventive law enforcement, an approach that could serve as a model for other regions aiming to address community safety comprehensively. Moving forward, the QCPD plans to continue such community engagement activities to strengthen ties between police and residents, ultimately enhancing public trust and community resilience against crime.
