Preemptive water release continues at Bustos Dam

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Bulacan on Sunday said authorities have continued to preemptively release water from Bustos Dam in view of the rains being dumped by Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi).

Retired Col. Manuel Lukban, who heads the PDRRMC, said the preemptive water release was started on Friday and continued for the third straight day.

He said Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 3 was raised in the towns of Norzagaray, San Miguel, San Ildefonso, San Rafael, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Angat, Santa Maria, Pandi, Bustos, Pulilan, Plaridel, and the cities of San Jose del Monte and Baliwag, while the rest of the nine towns and two cities of the province were placed under TCWS No. 2.

“The province was expected Sunday to experience cloudy skies with occasional light to moderate rains from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.” Lukban said.

Meanwhile, a total of 729 individuals or 215 families in four Bulacan coastal villages were subjected to preemptive evacuation due to the possible effects of “Pepito”.

Over 500 individuals were evacuated from the villages of Binuangan and Salambao in Obando town while more than 160 individuals were preemptively evacuated from Barangays Pamarawan and Atlag in the City of Malolos. (PNA)
