PNR enhances railway safety for tricycle operators and drivers in Bicol

The Philippine National Railways (PNR) conducted a one-day safety information drive on Thursday, aimed at educating members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) in Naga City, Camarines Sur, and Legazpi City, Albay on proper railway crossing practices.

In a statement on Friday, the PNR announced that more than 200 TODA members joined the activity, which included informational briefings on key railway safety measures. Participants also received “PNR Safety Kits” that highlight the “Stop, Look, and Listen” principle for motorists using designated railway level crossings.

Atty. Celeste Lauta, PNR Assistant General Manager and Safety Campaign Chairperson, acknowledged the vital role of tricycle drivers in ensuring safety near railway tracks. She reminded them to remain patient, wait for trains to pass, and avoid crossing until it is completely safe to do so.

Lauta added that the safety drive is part of the broader PNR Safety Campaign in the Bicol region, intended to reduce railway accidents, increase public awareness of railway regulations, and improve overall PNR services.

PNR is scheduled to hold the “PNR Railway Summit: Tracks to Safety” on January 21 in Naga City, further underscoring the agency’s commitment to preventing railway-related incidents through community engagement and education.
