PNP, Medicare ink pact on comprehensive health insurance for cops

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) and a health insurance company signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at providing comprehensive and accessible healthcare services for the force’s members, particularly those who have served for more than 20 years.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. (PSMBFI) chairperson (Ret) Lt. Gen. Benjamin Santos, and Medicare Plus Inc. (MPI) chief executive officer Maria Jesusa Viray and business development office chief Jayson Jalandoni signed the pact in simple rites at Camp Crame, Quezon City, the PNP Public Information Office said in a news release.

Marbil underscored the importance of this collaboration, noting it is aligned with the PNP’s internal programs focused on the well-being of its members.

“Our personnel serve and protect the people, and in return, they deserve the best care and support,” Marbil said.

He said the pact ensures that PNP personnel receive the essential healthcare protection they need, allowing them to focus on their duties with the confidence and peace of mind that comes from having reliable healthcare coverage.

Under this agreement, Medicare Plus Inc. will provide PNP members with comprehensive healthcare services, including in-patient and out-patient care, emergency services, dental care, consultations, laboratory tests, among others.

“Our partnership with Medicare Plus reflects our deep commitment to the well-being of our members who have served our nation for many years. This healthcare plan is our way of showing gratitude and providing them with the security they deserve,” Santos said.

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic turnover of the PSMBFI-MPI Card, signifying the official launch of the healthcare plan designed to benefit PNP personnel.

Marbil earlier said the health maintenance organization (HMO) cards will be helpful, particularly in the provinces where there are no PNP-run hospitals. (PNA)
