PNP extends help to almost 5K cops affected by typhoons

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said it continues to assist 4, 781 officers and their families severely affected by the series of weather disturbances.

In a press release, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil said the ongoing initiative demonstrates the force’s commitment to its personnel, many of whom suffered significant losses while serving the public at the height of the disasters.

“This program is part of the PNP’s enduring promise to care for its people. Our policemen and their families are not only heroes who protect others. They are also individuals who experience the same vulnerabilities during disasters,” Marbil said.

He said the PNP Engineering Response Team has been tasked with urgent repairs and restorations of 774 damaged houses of PNP personnel, particularly in the disaster-stricken areas of Ilocos, Cagayan, Central, Calabarzon, Bicol, and Cordillera regions in Luzon and Eastern Visayas. (Lloyd Caliwan, PNA)
