Pineda mother, son trade places in Pampanga guv race

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – In a surprising turn of events, a big switch happened in Pampanga as Vice Governor Lilia Pineda on Tuesday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for the position of governor.

Her son, Governor Dennis Pineda gave way and filed his COC for the vice gubernatorial position.

In a speech before her filing, the elder Pineda said she wished the 2025 elections would be peaceful.

The big switch happened just moments after former governor Eddie Panlilio filed his COC for the post of vice governor as running mate of Engr. Danilo Baylon, who is gunning for governor.

Panlilio, when asked why he decided to run, said this is to give Kapampangans an “alternative”, as the Pineda family “has been here in the provincial leadership for quite some time.”

He also said others should be allowed to run for elective posts. (PNA)
