Pimentel sees boost in trade, investment after PBBM’s UAE visit

MANILA – The successful visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and bilateral meeting with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to result in more trade, investments, and job opportunities for the Philippines.

In a news release on Thursday, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III highlighted the meeting’s importance in fostering enhanced collaboration between the two nations, particularly in areas of shared interest, including energy, infrastructure, and technology.

“I am confident that this meeting will lay the groundwork for a more robust and mutually beneficial relationship between the Philippines and the UAE,” Pimentel said, as he commended President Marcos and his delegation.

Pimentel’s wife, Special Envoy to the UAE for Trade and Investment Kathryna Yu-Pimentel, joined Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

“The UAE is a significant economic and geopolitical force in the region, and this visit holds great promise for boosting trade, investment, and job opportunities in the Philippines,” he said.

Pimentel likewise expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the UAE for its steadfast hospitality towards overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and its recognition of their significant contribution.

Pimentel also lauded the UAE’s unwavering support in times of need, citing its assistance during calamities such as the Mayon Volcano eruption.

The visit marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the UAE. (PNA)
