PHLPost receives award for good governance

MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) was honored for its excellent relationship with stakeholders for three consecutive years.

The Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporation (GCG) gave PHLPost a special award for consistently achieving a perfect score on the stakeholder relationship section for 2021 to 2023.

The GCG fetes government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) for their outstanding performance and dedication to good governance.

“I congratulate all the men and women of PHLPost for their hard work, loyalty and dedication to public service,” PHLPost Board chair Justice Stephen Cruz said in a news release on Tuesday.

PHLPost Postmaster General Luis Carlos said the recognition underscores the consistency in building strong, transparent, and effective partnerships with all stakeholders, which are crucial toward advancing the modernization and digital transformation program.

“We are grateful to the GCG for this recognition, as we remain committed in our mission to provide reliable and quality service to the Filipino people”, Carlos said.

The GCG is mandated to evaluate the performance of the GOCCs to ensure that their operations are transparent and responsive to the needs of the public.

The Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) to the GOCC sector is covered by Republic Act No. 10149 or the GOCC Governance Act.

The CGS serves as an instrument to assess the Corporate Governance initiatives and practices of GOCCs using a methodology benchmarked against the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Principles of Corporate Governance and ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard. (PNA)
