Pasig LGU receives 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance Award

The City Government of Pasig was awarded the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on December 9, 2024 at the Manila Hotel.

The City Government of Pasig is among the 714 local governments that received this recognition for 2024, with the theme: A Decade of Recognizing the Integrity and Excellence of Local Governments.

Mayor Vico Sotto led the Pasig delegation, which also included City Planning and Development Coordinator Priscella Mejillano and DILG Pasig City Director Visitacion Martinez, CESO V.

To qualify for the 2024 SGLG, local governments must pass the “All-in” principle assessment, which requires meeting the standards across all 10 governance areas: Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Safety, Peace and Order, Environmental Management, Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and Arts, and Youth Development.

It is worth noting that the City of Pasig also received the SGLG in 2023 under the “All-in” principle. The SGLG was first launched by DILG in 2014, and over the years, the assessment has become more stringent for local governments to achieve.

In his speech during the Awarding Ceremony, DILG Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla outlined some of the reforms to be implemented in future SGLG assessments: a three-year assessment period (one term) instead of an annual review; the assessment of three core governance categories (fiscal management, innovation, and disaster resilience) instead of the “all-in” principle; and the expectation that the SGLG will become harder to attain, with a larger SGLG Incentive Fund available for government projects in line with DILG guidelines.
