Over 500 Jesus Nazareno devotees get medical aid

MANILA – A total of 526 devotees who participated in the Feast of Jesus Nazarene Thursday sought medical help as of 4 p.m.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reported that it responded to 223 patients for vital signs.

A total of 267 patients had minor injuries like abrasion, puncture, burn, laceration, open wound, ingrown nail pain, detached nail, contusion, sprain, and sore throat.

They also experienced difficulty in breathing, chest pain, neck pain, hyperventilation, headache, elevated blood pressure, dizziness, avulsion, and hyperacidity.

Meanwhile, eight patients had major injuries including dizziness with blurry vision, nausea and body weakness, and difficulty of breathing.

Eight patients were transported to the PRC Emergency Field Hospital, two to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, two to Tondo Medical Center, two to the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital, and one to the Philippine Orthopedic Center.

Nausea, chest pain, deviated nose, dislocated shoulder, nose bleed, pain on left ankle, difficulty breathing, chills, and back pain were the complaints of those transported to the field hospital and medical facilities.

About 115 individuals received welfare assistance –64 psychosocial first aid, four contact tracing and 41 referrals, and six were provided free calls.

The PRC deployed 18 first aid stations, 18 welfare desks, one emergency field hospital, 20 ambulances and more than 1,000 volunteers. (PNA)
