A Senate leadership change?
Many people are waiting for the Senate leadership to be changed. Speculations are rife that Senator Alan Cayetano will take over from Senate President Tito Sotto, while Senator Rodante Marcoleta will get back his Blue Ribbon committee chairmanship from Senator Panfilo Lacson.
The popular sentiment is for Cayetano to manage the Senate well because of his well-rounded legal education and wide experience as a legislator and a public servant.
If this happens, the Senate will be in good hands.
But, when will this happen?

The recent discovery of extensive supply oil by the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea is becoming the center of conflict between China on one hand, and the Philippines and the United States, on the other hand.
We have a fleeting moment of joy as a result of the discovery, but it will take for sometime to realize the fruit of the project.
Either way, Uncle Sam will not take matters sitting down. The Americans will see to it that they will get 50 percent of the oil production.
On the other hand, China will assert its alleged sovereign rights over the oil field where the Philippines is currently drilling.
We heard that President Donald Trump has deployed warships in the area, so that the Chinese will not be able to plant their flag in our oil field.
Malayo pa and mararating ng estoryang ito. Abangan!

The Dagupan City council resolution on the proposed Mother and Child Hospital is just the only one being awaited before the project will finally push through.
The resolution will authorize Mayor Belen Fernandez to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Health to finally jumpstart the project.
I understand that the site will be in the same area as proposed before. This is a one-hectare area donated to the DOH by businessman Kerwin Fernandez.
Before the start of the political season, I urge the city council to pass that resolution so that the project will not hit another snag, as what happened before.
We all know that politics is a dirty game.
We have to recall that this project did not push through because of politics.
Let us not be so confident of our numbers in the present Sanggunian, because the wheel of fortune might change anytime.
I am paging my friend, Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, to speed up the passage of the needed resolution.#
