Dagupan City  backs safe, modern classroom construction
Mayor Belen Fernandez expressed support for Senator Bam Aquino’s proposed Classroom-Building Acceleration Program (CAP) Act, which aims to fast-track the construction of safe and modern classrooms nationwide.
She also reiterated her support for education-related laws passed by Congress, including the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act that provides free college education.
Dagupan City, a beneficiary of education and health initiatives, welcomed Malacañang’s move to certify the bill as urgent to ensure faster classroom construction and improved learning facilities. Jam Victorio 
COMELEC to hold satellite voter registration
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will conduct satellite voter registration at Nepo Mall in Dagupan City on February 14, 16, and 17, 2026, to make registration services more accessible to the public.
Services include new voter registration, transfer of records, correction of entries, reactivation of registration, and reinstatement of names in the voters’ list.
The activity is open to qualified voters for the Barangay Elections and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections. COMELEC urged first-time voters and the youth to register and actively participate in the upcoming polls. Jam Victorio
Church assures assistance to owners of vehicles damaged by falling tree
The Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag  assured assistance to owners of four vehicles  that were damaged when a large acacia tree collapsed during a car blessing ceremony last week.
The fallen tree hit a commuter van and a newly purchased SUV, both of which sustained heavy damage, along with two other SUVs.
No injuries were reported. Authorities immediately conducted clearing operations. Joana de Vera
Bayambang Police Station named best municipal police nationwide
The Bayambang Police Station put Pangasinan in the map when it was adjudged  as the Best Municipal Police Station (Class A) nationwide during the PNP Day 2026 celebration at Camp Crame in Quezon City last week.
The award cited the station’s overall performance, including crime prevention, effective law enforcement, administrative efficiency, and strong community relations.
Police officials credited the recognition to the collective efforts of the entire police force. Aaron Navelgas 
486 health professionals deployed across  Region 1
A total of 486 newly hired health professionals have
 taken their oath and will be deployed across the Ilocos Region to strengthen local health systems.
Under the National Health Workforce Support System, the group includes nurses, midwives, medical technologists, and other health workers assigned to local health offices and government hospitals.
Of the total, 168 will serve in Ilocos Sur, 146 in La Union, 92 in Pangasinan, and 82 in Ilocos Norte. Jam Victorio 
₱20-per-kilo rice now available at NFA warehouses
Qualified beneficiaries can now purchase rice at ₱20 per kilo at National Food Authority (NFA) warehouses across Region 1.
The program covers senior citizens, solo parents, persons with disabilities, 4Ps beneficiaries, farmers, fisherfolk, jeepney drivers, and TODA members.
Beneficiaries are reminded to bring valid IDs and their own containers. The “Benteng Bigas” program aims to ease household expenses amid rising rice prices. Nil Moyano
