MANILA – The government and other stakeholders have so far provided over PHP 364.4 million worth of assistance to families severely affected by typhoons Nika (international name Toraji), Ofel (Usagi), and Pepito (Man-yi), which successively battered the country in the past weeks,
In its latest situation report Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said this amount of assistance, which includes food and non-food items, has so far helped 131, 956 families in eight regions — Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas and the Cordillera.
The NDRRMC also added that a total of 453, 611 families still need help to date.
Meanwhile, the reported death toll from the three consecutive typhoons has climbed to 14.
However, only five of these have been confirmed so far while the remainder are still being validated.
Meanwhile, 15 persons were reported injured, 11 of whom have already been confirmed.
Still undergoing validation are reports of two missing persons.
Meanwhile, affected families were placed at 1, 142, 532 or 4, 210, 045 persons residing in 7, 710 barangays in eight regions nationwide.
As of this time, the number of families being aided in 941 evacuation centers is 29, 423, which is equivalent to 104, 705 individuals.
Meanwhile, those being aided outside were placed at 17, 629 families which is equivalent to 62,583 persons.
A total of 123, 747 houses were reported damaged in six regions, of which 103, 000 were classified as “partially” damaged and 20, 747 were tagged as “totally” damaged.
The damage to agriculture and infrastructure was estimated at PHP699.3 million and PHP2.84 billion, respectively. (PNA)
