Nearly 400 population officers, volunteers, and workers from various regions gathered in Tacloban City to commence the 2024 National FLEPOWPHIL Conference and Planning Workshop at the People’s Center and Library. The event, running until October 30, aims to improve the capabilities of frontline workers essential to community welfare.

Mark Lucio S. Cortado, Jr., President of RAPOW VIII, Inc., emphasized the importance of collaboration among population workers. Tacloban City Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez, represented by Program Officer Hedeliza P. Ramos, underscored the role of population workers in national development.

FLEPOWPHIL National President Junmar C. Gonzales stated the conference’s focus on equipping government agencies and frontline workers with skills for better efficiency. Topics include the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), Population and Development standards, and regional best practices.

The conference is timely, as the Philippines faces rapid urbanization and population growth challenges. Population officers act as key links between government programs and community needs, making their roles increasingly vital. This gathering seeks to strengthen local governance, promote accountability, and support sustainable population initiatives across the country.
