Law enforcement personnel in Northern Mindanao have arrested 2,324 individuals and confiscated more than PHP38 million worth of illegal drugs over the last 100 days, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 reported on Friday.
According to Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman, PRO-10 regional director, the anti-illegal drug campaign spanned from September 26, 2024 to January 4, resulting in 683 operations. These efforts led to 842 arrests and the seizure of approximately 5,676 grams of shabu and 1,255 grams of marijuana.
“This milestone reflects our commitment to serving and protecting the people of Northern Mindanao,” De Guzman said, noting that the campaigns encompassed a range of issues beyond narcotics.
In parallel operations against smuggling, police conducted 44 raids and arrested 53 suspects, confiscating PHP58.6 million worth of smuggled cigarettes. Another 22 operations targeted illegal mining, where 64 individuals were arrested and around PHP18.5 million worth of mining equipment was seized.
Additional efforts were directed toward curbing illegal gambling and unlicensed firearms. Authorities underscored that the series of operations aligns with ongoing initiatives to maintain public safety and suppress criminal activities in Northern Mindanao.
