Muntinlupa’s ‘PaMaNang Nakakaproud’ program to award ‘most clean communities’

Muntinlupa City continues its community-driven cleanliness program dubbed, “PaMaNang Nakakaproud,” this year, as validators conducted their latest inspection rounds in various gated communities on November 3. This initiative, launched to “recognize and reward communities for their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and order, reflects Muntinlupa’s focus on promoting environmental responsibility and instilling civic pride among residents.”

The program’s name, “PaMaNang Nakakaproud,” is rooted in a Filipino phrase that translates to “Government and Citizens Working Together for Proud Cleanliness and Orderliness.” It encourages residents to participate actively in their communities’ upkeep, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility. Regular monthly validations assess cleanliness, orderliness, and community engagement, which have created friendly competition among neighborhoods and incentivized sustainable practices like waste segregation, green spaces, and organized community spaces.

The program aims for residents to collaborate with the local government in maintaining public spaces and contributing to Muntinlupa’s vision of a “cleaner, greener city.” By rewarding high-performing communities and fostering collaboration, the city hopes to “create a model for other LGUs in the Philippines that might look to implement similar programs to promote urban cleanliness and environmental sustainability.”
