Muntinlupa conducts volunteerism workshop to strengthen community engagement

In celebration of National Volunteers Month, the Muntinlupa City Government organized a Capacity Building Workshop for volunteer organizations on December 14 at the Alabang Central Market. The workshop aimed to strengthen the Make Your City Proud (MYCP) program, a flagship initiative of Mayor Ruffy Biazon that encourages active community participation in local governance and development projects.

Muntinlupa was recently recognized as the first Volunteerism Local Learning Hub (VLLH) by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA). This recognition highlights the city’s outstanding commitment to promoting volunteerism through initiatives like MYCP, which mobilize residents in community-driven efforts, such as environmental clean-ups, educational outreach programs, and disaster preparedness activities.

The workshop focused on equipping volunteer organizations with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively implement and sustain their programs. Sessions included leadership training, project management strategies, and resource mobilization techniques to ensure long-term success in volunteer-driven projects. Participants also shared best practices and success stories to inspire collaboration and innovation among local volunteers.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon underscored the importance of volunteerism in achieving inclusive and sustainable development. He encouraged citizens to remain engaged and proactive in serving their communities, emphasizing that collective efforts between the government, private sector, and the public are essential for building a stronger and more resilient Muntinlupa. The city government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting volunteer organizations as partners in creating positive and lasting change.
