More CCTV cameras to bolster security in Davao City

The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) of the Davao City government announced on Friday that more closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed across Davao City this year as part of efforts to enhance public security and disaster preparedness.

In a statement, PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay said fiber optic cables will be laid in priority areas approved by the City Mayor’s Office, including key locations in the city and along its coastal areas.

“These are the priority areas for us when installing cameras, and we are hopeful that implementation can proceed smoothly for 2025,” Sumagaysay said.

He emphasized the importance of expanding CCTV coverage to improve public safety, assist in disaster response, and ease traffic management in the rapidly growing city.

Currently, around 200 CCTV cameras are operational throughout Davao City, providing surveillance in critical areas.

“Davao City is expanding, and with this growth comes the responsibility to improve security and ensure the safety of our residents, whether in managing flooding incidents or alleviating traffic congestion,” Sumagaysay added.
