MANILA – More areas are expected to experience rains due to shear line, easterlies and northeast monsoon or “amihan“, the weather bureau said Thursday.
The shear line will continue to bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, and Northern Samar.
Rainy conditions will prevail across Soccsksargen, Davao Region, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi because of the easterlies.
These areas could experience moderate to heavy rains that could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will cause light rains over Cagayan Valley and Aurora, and isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.
PAGASA said the rest of the country is forecast to have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
Severe thunderstorms could also result in flash floods or landslides.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail over the entire archipelago.
No low pressure area was monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, PAGASA said. (PNA)
