The head of the MMDA Special Operations Group-Strike Force will continue in his role while participating in an intensive five-day workshop on traffic management, leadership, and stress and anger management. According to an MMDA statement on Monday, Chair Don Artes mandated the program for Gabriel Go not as a disciplinary measure but for self-improvement.
The training, led by Edison Nebrija from the MMDA Traffic Education Division and former Task Force Special Operations chief, aims to reinforce professionalism and effective communication among traffic enforcers. The initiative follows an administrative reprimand issued to Go by the MMDA Legal and Legislative Affairs Staff over an incident on March 25 in Quezon City, where he was found discourteous toward a police officer during a clearing operation. Officials warned that any similar behavior in the future would be dealt with more severely.
In addition, MMDA management reminded all traffic enforcers to exercise maximum tolerance and maintain the highest level of courtesy in their dealings. This comes after Go apologized to Quezon City Police District Captain Mann Erik Felipe, whom he had berated during a sidewalk clearing operation—a confrontation that was recorded and widely circulated on social media. Felipe has since filed a cyber libel case under Republic Act 10175, with the MMDA pledging its support for Go in the legal matter.
