The Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA is set to implement Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan 2024 to ensure public safety and security across the region during the Christmas season.
Police Lieutenant Kytel Barcelona confirmed the operational plan, which will cover all areas within the region, with police units and offices assigned specific tasks to address the anticipated increase in public gatherings and movement.
“With Ligtas Paskuhan 2024, we are ready to implement heightened police operations across the region, and all units are well-informed of their responsibilities for the Yuletide season,” Barcelona said.
The plan focuses on areas expected to experience heavy congestion, such as transportation terminals, churches, and tourist destinations, as families and travelers return for the holidays. Police visibility will be increased in these critical locations to deter incidents and maintain order.
Barcelona added that deployment strategies have been set to address possible risks in crowded areas. For Oriental Mindoro, 274 police officers will be deployed, 148 in Occidental Mindoro, 108 in Marinduque, 200 in Romblon, and 90 in Puerto Princesa City.
As part of safety reminders, Barcelona urged the public to remain cautious and vigilant during the holiday season. She advised avoiding the wearing of expensive jewelry and carrying large sums of money to minimize risks and ensure a safe celebration.
“We must always be aware of our surroundings, avoid wearing expensive accessories, and refrain from carrying large amounts of money to fully enjoy this Yuletide season,” she emphasized.
The Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan 2024 initiative underscores PRO MIMAROPA’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure Christmas celebration for residents and visitors across the region.
