Military lawyer found dead in Camp Aguinaldo

MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has confirmed that Col. Rolando Escalona Jr. of the Judge Advocate General’s Service (JAGS) was found dead in his quarters at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

In a statement sent to the Philippines News Agency Sunday, AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said the body of Escalona was found in the early hours of November 22.

Padilla said the AFP and Philippine National are conducting a “thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

She also extended the AFP’s condolences to the bereaved family of Escalona.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Colonel Escalona during this difficult time. The AFP is committed to ensuring a complete and impartial investigation to shed light on this matter,” Padilla said.
