Government employees eligible for the midyear bonus will begin receiving the incentive starting Thursday, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced.
The midyear bonus, equal to one month of basic salary, is granted under DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2 and forms part of the regular compensation for qualified public personnel.
To qualify, employees must have rendered at least four months of service from July 1 of the previous year to May 15 of the current year, remain in active service as of May 15, and have received at least a satisfactory performance rating.
The bonus applies to regular, casual, and contractual personnel in national government agencies, constitutional offices, state universities and colleges, and government-owned or -controlled corporations under the Compensation and Position Classification System. Uniformed personnel are also included.
Part-time workers will receive a prorated amount based on services rendered. Those with pending administrative or criminal cases remain entitled unless found guilty by final judgment, in which case the bonus must be returned, except when the penalty is only a reprimand.
For local government employees, the bonus will depend on local council approval and fund availability.
