Tacloban City — The Mayor’s Employment Generation Activity (MEGA) Job Fair, held on October 25 at the Tacloban City Convention Center (Astrodome), attracted hundreds of jobseekers aiming to secure employment. Tacloban City Councilor Christopher Randy Esperas, representing Mayor Alfred Romualdez, opened the event, emphasizing its importance in boosting local employment and the city’s economy.

The job fair brought together 49 local employers and 9 overseas recruitment agencies, offering more than 2, 700 job openings in sectors such as retail, production, and skilled trades. By 11:00 a.m., five applicants had already secured jobs, demonstrating the fair’s impact in providing immediate employment opportunities.

The MEGA Job Fair is part of Tacloban’s broader efforts to support the workforce, especially as the city continues its recovery from Typhoon Haiyan’s devastation in 2013. Events like these serve as essential steps in promoting economic resilience and workforce development in the region.
